Summertime means fireworks. “In New Jersey, it is illegal to own almost all fireworks — even sparklers — without a permit, which generally is reserved for shows approved by local fire departments. Possessing fireworks is roughly equivalent to a misdemeanor disorderly conduct offense, while owning fireworks with the intent to sell them carries a penalty of up to 18 months in prison and a $10,000 fine.” ~Richard Jones of the New York Times

The surrounding states (Pennsylvania & New York) are just as strict with their firework laws. These measures are all taken in the name of safety. While fireworks are beautiful to witness, they are extremely dangerous and should be left to the professionals. Fireworks have been known to result in fires, property damage, wounded body parts, immediate permanent hearing loss and death.

Please be safe by enjoying professional firework shows and not trying to do them on your own.
