Time to move into a bigger place?
You can spend more time enjoying your new space than wondering where something is or trying to repair a broken piece of furniture.
1. Write a packing list
Having a list is always helpful so that you don’t forget anything. Make sure to include important documents: birth certificate, social security card, car paperwork, medical records etc.
2. Start packing months inadvance.
You have a lot of stuff. It’s better to start packing in phases than be overwhelmed by trying to do it all at once. Don’t forget to label your boxes with what’s in it and what room it should go in.
3. Be creative when packing fragile items.
Don’t pack all the heavy things in one box. Vary your boxes with small and large items to evenly distribute the weight.
4. Ask your friends and business associates for recommendations on moving companies.
Depending on how much stuff you have or where you’re moving to you might need help with your move.
5. Make sure you coordinate and communicate well with your moving company or your friends that are helping you move.
It’s always good to double check with your moving company so they know when to arrive, what they need to move and where they are going. Make sure you get everything in writing.
When it comes to your friends, make sure you reward them with snacks or a meal after they’re finished.
6. Lastly, check your homeowners insurance policy to see if your items are covered during the move and let your agent know your new address.
