National Baby Safety Month
Kids love to ride in the car. They love the excitement of
going to new destinations. As parents, it is important to emphasize why your
children need to wear their seat belts at all times when in a vehicle. They
must also avoid disrupting the driver. Parents need to make sure they are using
the proper seating equipment for their child.
Different types of seats
·
Rear-facing seats – Used for newborns to
toddlers up to age 2.
·
Front-facing seats – used for toddlers ages 2
and up to weight and height limits of seat
·
Booster seats – Used for children ages four
through eight, or when the child is at least 4’ 9”
When children are taller than 4’ 9” they can start using
seat belts. Children should remain in the backseat until they are at least 13
years old.
