Origins of Movember

Winter comes and all of the men around you seem to look like lumberjacks. What gives? It’s Movember!

What is Movember?

Also known as ‘‘No shave November,’ some men take a break from taming their manes. Movember is a combination of mustache and November.

Movember evolved into a yearly charity event run by the Movember Foundation to raise awareness for men’s health.  Health causes that has benefitted from the Movember movement include Prostate Cancer and testicular cancer.

Movember is not only celebrated in the United States but is an international tradition. The Movember Foundation has raised $559 million and funded over 800 programs in 21 countries.
