Contractors must register with the state in order to build new homes. They also have to warrant each new home built and provide warranty follow-up services. Plumbers, electricians and home improvement contractors are also required to be licensed in New Jersey.

The application will ask you for information about:
•principal officers of your company
•any bankruptcy proceedings your company has been involved in
•any consumer fraud proceedings your company has been involved in
Registration fee: It will cost you $200 nonrefundable to register. Registration is good for two years.
